King Abdulaziz University, represented by its Faculty of Engineering, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Prince Sultan Aviation Academy to strengthen collaboration in advanced engineering and industrial sectors, and to develop specialized national talent by supporting research, development, and innovation, in alignment with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
The signing took place in the presence of H.E. Eng. Ibrahim bin Abdulrahman Al-Omar, Director General of Saudia Group, and Dr. Tareef bin Youssef Alaama, President of King Abdulaziz University. The MoU was signed on behalf of the university by Majdi Alnowami, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and on behalf of the Academy by its CEO, Capt. Ismael S. Alkoshy.
The memorandum aims to contribute to building a diversified national economy rooted in knowledge investment by promoting ongoing research, development, and innovation in modern industries that drive national growth and support the goals of Vision 2030.
The MoU also seeks to develop national skills and competencies that align with labor market needs, contribute to the advancement of education and academia, expand cooperation in applied studies and data exchange, and support human capital training across various fields. It aims to build a knowledge-based society and promote integration in essential engineering and industrial disciplines through collaboration in education.
Areas of Collaboration Include:
▪️ Providing cooperative training opportunities (summer and semester-based) for students at King Abdulaziz University
▪️ Facilitating joint student projects in cooperation with the Academy
▪️ Launching collaborative scientific and applied research initiatives, including the formation of joint research teams
▪️ Organizing joint scientific excursions and participating in academic conferences and seminars
▪️ Sharing research outcomes and offering reciprocal scientific services
▪️ Jointly developing relevant academic curricula
▪️ Admitting graduates from the Academy’s aircraft maintenance and engineering diploma programs into the Department of Aerospace Engineering’s bridging program

Dr. Majdi bin R Alnowami, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, stated that the signing of this memorandum represents a strategic step reflecting the university’s commitment to contributing actively to the aviation sector, which is one of the key pillars of Saudi Vision 2030.
He added that the collaboration with the Academy will help prepare qualified national talent equipped with advanced knowledge and skills, broaden opportunities for training and scientific research in aviation-related engineering and industrial fields, enhance integration between education and the labor market, and support the development of a modern, advanced aviation ecosystem that aligns with the sector’s rapid growth and the Kingdom’s ambition to become a global hub for civil aviation.
For his part, Capt. Ismael S. Alkoshy, CEO of Prince Sultan Aviation Academy, affirmed the Academy’s commitment to building strategic partnerships that enhance integration with various sectors and institutions.
